Kay stands for kebab

A busy townsquare in Poland, with cobblestones and old time colourful buildings in a row.

yeehaw folks!! another Poland post coming at you.

honestly Wroclaw was one of my favourite places we have been to so far. Each place in Poland I have enjoyed.

I figured out the gnome situation - it is quite cool actually. there was an anti-communist group that used it as their symbol (dressing up as a gnome, defacing posters with gnome drawings) and put up a statue in the place they would commonly meet. then it became a tradition to put up other gnomes around the city, and so on so forth. now it is a fun scavenger hunt for tourists around the town.

anywho we were staying in a very cool place near the center of the old town. i went for a walk to get the bearings and saw the old town area where it looked very busy, and was only pedestrian. sign me up, decided to go that way and thankful i did!! it was such a fun lil strip of the city - cobblestone paths with gnome statues all around, big cobblestone squares with performers, bars and restaurants everywhere. it had a great energy about it and i was excited to show the boy Ian. it soon became the location of our everyday walking adventures, seeing the sights and enjoying the lively energy of the square.

Wroclaw was definitely more touristy than the other two places but I did enjoy the size of the city and the large open squares.

On Saturday, it was exciting The Hu day!! The Mongolian throat singing rock band!! we made Mojitos, did our hair and got dressed in some pretty epic fun all black outfits and walked to the concert which was very fun. We were luckily in an area that had peeps dancing!! And the music was super fun, the time flew by but we were having a blast. We scootered home for a bit then decided to walk around the old town square to check out the vibes and get kebab. We were hungryyyy. We found one place that looked promising and ordered 2 mega kebabs (that was my bad he asked what size and when he mentioned “Mega” i just said yes because I was excited and the bigger the better). Well folks, they definitely were Mega. Almost as tall as I am!!! Well worth it but oh hot damn. Kinda proud though we finished one together in one night.

Side note, we have been eating very well, enjoying cooking in our places. In Wroclaw, we found these pre-seasoned salmon fillets and so made those in the oven with some veggies and damn-a-rama it was tasty. Delicious.

Side side note, the place we were living had an … interesting or should I say FRUSTRATING oven/stove situation going on. The oven had NO clear buttons (it was all touch activated) and so it was a “tap everything until it worked” type of situation. It turned off every time you opened the oven. Very convenient. To turn it off you had to “hold” down this one random button for an unknown amount of time? Also the stove well .. ALSO touch and you slide the scale to change the mode but you needed to first touch the “button” for the burner you wanted. And it would beep every time you put something on it. What a good time. It was a very nice airbnb though - had a projector, a fun balcony, and because we were on a main road, this nice red glow in the evening coming in from the windows.

we were also super lucky with weather - very warm and sunny but luckily for us the old square had very nice fountains to put our feet in.

the next couple days were mostly chill, walk around, and run errands. On Monday, we decided it was SHOPPPING DAY!! we were on the hunt for linen/flowy pants, headphones (because my earbuds were not doing me well anymore), and some drug store items. we also had this delicious donut filled with chocolate and wow i am not a donut person but that was light and yummy.

pants were a success for me!! we are still on the hunt for my boy, headphones also a success, and drugstore also after some googling and translating and using the photos as clues. i could tell though when my body wanted to end the shopping day ahha because i can only do a mall for so long and then i want to be done. not a huge shopping gal. so we went home successfully!!!

oh yes!! another important thing to blog about was this funny situation where walking past a cafe we saw a sign that said “orange espresso”. now i was intrigued so we ordered one and yall i feel silly for expecting anything other than what it was. an espresso shot in orange juice. exactly the taste you would think - someone dropped coffee in your glass of orange juice… was it bad? no it was kinda just … i maybe would've preferred it to be separate. but hey!!! love trying something new.

and then it was time to say “pa pa” to our time in Poland (for now). Off to Berlin!! for pride!!
